Ouch!

We took our first, and I know it's not our last, trip to the Emergency room last weekend. As most of you know, John is a very active and daring little dude. He frequently climbs to the top, then jumps off of a Delicate Arch replica at our local park (5 feet tall). He also loves to play on the monkey bars, and he especially loves to climb on the giant caterpillar. Well, the giant caterpillar did him wrong this time. It was a warm day, and perhaps Johns hands were a bit sweaty. Who knows. Anyway, he slipped. He fell while trying to get down from the head of the caterpillar, and landed chin first onto one of the caterpillars legs. Unfortunately, though the legs are nice and smooth, they are made of metal. Johns chin was no match, and it split right open. I don't think he was crying because he was hurt, I think he was scared by the amount of blood there was all over his favorite tee shirt. Thank heaven for burp cloths. Erin shared one of her cloths and we held it tight and called a friend to come get us. 5 and 1/2 hours later and all stitched up, John was ready to get back to the park. It was already dark, so he settled for a huge ice cream with sprinkles.

Oh John Buddy. You poor little dude. What a trooper you are.

Ryan hopes you're feeling much better...and that you plan to vacation in California this summer. (Hint, hint).
